The Journey of Soul - why create music?

Recently I attended a musicians’ meeting in Minneapolis with  Rodney Jones, professor of jazz guitar at the Juilliard School of Music. Rodney brought out an interesting topic that is close to my  heart: much time is spent on ‘how’ to make music, but how much attention is given to ‘why’ make music?

My belief is that compositions can be like holographic structures of sound information that offer the listener a way of shifting to and accessing an understanding beyond words.  In my experience, one can access places beyond mind or emotions, and can ‘bring through’ music found here, It’s a sort of ‘translation’. Yes, I have to have the ‘how’: that is the musical skill and tools to translate what is ‘given’, but the guiding force for me is always the ‘why’... what is the purpose for accessing  and recreating such structures of sound and why pass them on?

For me, my purpose in writing music is to create a vehicle that ‘holds’ consciousness, providing a way of accessing truths that help us know more of who we truly are. For me the reason is to provide music to touch the heart and inspire the soul, and in this way connect to principles that uplift us and help us on our journey in life. “Atma’s Flight” is one such piece that explores the journey of soul. I am delighted to announce that it is now available in sheet music form, published by Charasound.

“How can I describe, what your music is for us. Your music makes someone indeed feel deeply. It is somehow like the view at the stars in a clear silent night, like the moon which is rising slowly up into the sky - simply wonderful.
